I have been in Shanghai since Nov 16, 2008. What I noticed just recently is that whenever you shop, the store will charge you for plastic bag you use. The price is around RMB 0.30-0.50.
Just now, I went to bakery store, the cashier asked me (although I did't understand the language, but she pointed at plastic bag) if I need a bag.
Yesterday, when I went to Super Brand Mall downtown Shanghai, I saw many people carried their own plastic bag. When I shopped at Watson, they charged me RMB 0.50.
Next time, I better carry my plastic bag. Save the environment, save money too, hahaha....
